Gigaclear

Gigaclear was founded in 2010 by Matthew Hare who, having a background in telecoms, saw the problems facing rural households and businesses when they tried to get a fast, reliable broadband connection.

In May 2011, Gigaclear took a majority in Rutland Telecom and in September 2011, in conjunction with Rutland Telecom, they delivered their first Fibre-to-the-Premises (FFTP) service in Hambleton.

Gigaclear is investing heavily in its own fibre network, primarily to deliver ultrafast broadband services to rural areas.

In 2016 Gigaclear was operating networks in 13 counties in the UK: Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Gloucestershire, Kent, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Rutland and Worcestershire serving over 30,000 properties.

Gigaclear’s expansion continued in 2017, having been awarded several contracts by BDUK to deliver further ultrafast broadband ervices across Devon, Somerset and Wiltshire.

Some postcode areas already covered by Gigaclear are B487QF, SG106EU and CM166EE.

Gigaclear offer 4 packages to residential customers; Home 50 Unlimited for the light user providing upto 50Mbs, Home 100 Unlimited for the medium user providing 100Mbs, Home 200 Unlimited for the Heavy user and Home 1G Unlimited providing upto 1Gb for the Super Heavy user.

Installation costs start at £129.99 for any package and there is a one off activation fee of £100. For the lower speed packages you can choose to add a 1G boost for a 48 hour period at a cost of £5, useful if the grandchildren are coming to stay !
